LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - It didn't take a renowned cryptologist to figure out that Dan Brown's best seller "The Da Vinci Code" would make good fodder for the big screen.
The thriller, which combines secret religious societies, ancient coverups and savage vengeance, has attracted the attention of producer Brian Grazer, director Ron Howard and writer Akiva Goldsman -- the dream team behind the Oscar-winning "A Beautiful Mind," reports industry sources. "Da Vinci" centers on Harvard symbol expert Robert Langdon who is called in to investigate the murder of a curator at the Louvre. The body is surrounded by strange ciphers linked to the paintings of Leonardo Da Vinci and a powerful relic protected by the Priory, a secret society to which the artist belonged. Columbia Pictures purchased the rights to Brown's book, which has rested comfortably near the top of the New York Times best seller list for 27 weeks. Before "Da Vinci," Howard will direct Russell Crowe in "Cinderella Man." The director's next film, "The Missing," stars Cate Blanchett and Tommy Lee Jones and will hit theaters Nov. 19. ________________________________ Changes to your subscription (unsubs, nomail, digest) can be made by going to http://sandboxmail.net/mailman/listinfo/sndbox_sandboxmail.net
