In keeping with the classic sitcom, we still think that
Columbia Pictures should cast two actors to play Darrin Stevens in
the big-screen remake of ''Bewitched.'' Nonetheless, the studio
has picked just one, according to the Hollywood Reporter. It's
Will Ferrell, who'll bring his comic gifts to the old-school
series about a fussy man married to a magical witch. Nicole Kidman
is attached to the lead role of Samantha Stevens, with Nora Ephron
(''You've Got Mail'') directing.
Ferrell just landed another role, in New Line's comedy ''The
Salesman,'' Variety reports. He'll play a stereo salesman who's a
compulsive liar. That may be good for business, but in his
personal life, the falsehoods escalate to the point where he's
engaged to two women because he can't bear to disappoint either
one. Meanwhile, Ferrell fans can catch him on screen in November
as an overgrown North Pole workshop denizen in
''Elf.''
