Wow, that was some arsenal.  See, guns don't kill people. :-)

Bombs and Other Weapons Found in Sanford Home; Some Evacuated

The Associated Press

SANFORD, Fla. (AP) - Residents of a subdivision remained evacuated Monday after police investigating a murder found hundreds of military weapons and bombs inside the dead man's home.

Licensed firearms dealer Scott Quinn, 37, was found dead at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday in his home in this small central Florida city.

Sanford police found the stockpile of weapons, including live bombs, neatly stacked in the bedroom. They placed four homes under a mandatory evacuation, while dozens of other residents from more than 20 nearby homes were placed under voluntary evacuation because of fears the bombs might explode.

About 10 homes remained evacuated Monday, and Army weapons experts were expected to be at the scene Monday morning to continue analyzing the weapons and explosives, Sanford police Lt. Ron Daugherty said. The evacuation is expected to last until the early afternoon, officials said.

Several of the more dangerous pieces were taken to a Seminole County landfill to be detonated. The Sanford Police Department was storing other pieces as evidence.

Investigators said Quinn was murdered but are not releasing further details. An autopsy will be performed this week to determine the cause of death. No weapons are believed to have been stolen. Police said Quinn's girlfriend discovered his body inside the home.

Authorities didn't find an inventory list of the items but said there were probably more than 400 pieces total, including rocket-propelled grenades, 40-mm rounds, materials to make both and parts for other guns, Seminole County sheriff's Sgt. Ralph Wilson said.

The stash also included Czech grenades and live Bouncing Betties, which are land mines that pop out of the ground and detonate at waist level when stepped on.

Investigators also found two World War II-era .30-caliber machine guns that could sell for as much as $30,000 each, Wilson said.

Quinn was licensed to manufacture and possess the weapons, Wilson said. Quinn also operated a bail bonds business near the Seminole County Jail, and at one time operated Mid-Florida Gun Sales, business partner and friend George Cox said.

"He was a very likable guy, and he had no problems that I know of," Cox told the Orlando Sentinel.
