Pastor Problems
A city in Texas has told 16 senior citizens who hang out at a city center
there that they may no longer hear from a pastor at the center because it
violates the separation of church and state, reports
the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.
The seniors from have sued the city of Balch Springs alleging that their
First Amendment rights to freedom of speech, assembly and religious exercise
have been violated by the decision.
The seniors say that for years they were allowed to pray and do other
religious activities at the center in the southeast Dallas County community
until three people complained this summer, saying they were offended.
The city initially banned even prayer before meals and listening to gospel
music, but later relented and only banned the pastor.
