I picked up a "Freestyle" stopwatch for $20 at Sports Chalet. Its does all the usual things a modern stopwatch does -- time/date/lap/split -- but its also got a countdown timer that's good for up to 10 hours to 0.1 sec precision (more than adequate for my landings). The countdown timer beeps as it gets to zero and then it counts through. Its got decent buttons, much more positive than the Seiko's (IMO). Its got some other extras like a backlight and its waterproof to 165meters (not that I'm planning any underwater flying, or flying in the dark for that matter).
Freestyle do a number of different stopwatches, all with countdown capability. Check out their website.
