Hey now,
As a sometimes ukie flyer I think I can speak on this a bit.
I live in Oakland Ca, there's a dedicated ukie field near by (and several
slopes). On any given weekend day there'll be fifty or sixty folks at the
ukie field. At each of our local slopes there can be as many as fifteen
guys, 'though more likely five or eight. Merrit collage wikk get as many
as six slopers a day, The dump at the Pacifica coast will get a dozern,
Coyote will get five to ten. You can get the idea.

Hey even at the thermal field at Davis they don't get more than ten to
twenty folks. So yeah, control line is popular again and growing rapidly.

It's cheap, it's nostalgic, it's even fun for a lot of folks. My wife, who
hates r/c *loves* flying ukies; they're visceral, she can feel the model
through the lines and she likes that.

I hear many of them ask the same thing about soaring, go figure...
