But were you switching the TX frequency as well with a crystal swap, or was
it with a different radio/module already tuned for the new channel?  It's
well known that large changes on transmitters without retuning is risky, but
most receivers out there are sold without crystals, thus any channel could
end up in them.

JR receivers (at least through Horizon) ARE sold with crystals, but I don't
know if that's just for convenience or if there is channel-specific tuning
done on them.
