Its been said on this thread that NVRAM doesn't require battery backup. As
a slight clarification, this isn't true. NVRAM does require battery
backup, usually only when power isn't applied to the system, circuit
board, etc. EEPROM and Flash memory are the types of memory that don't
require battery backup to maintain their state. For example the Futaba
8UAFS has a removable EEPROM-based memory board that you can store
parameters for 8 additional models. It maintains model memory even when
removed from the transmitter and power.
