The lithium is only a back up that will kick in when the other power source
(the eight cell battery pack) is dead or removed. I have not tried to change
the battery and have had my 8103 for about five years and have not had any
problems. I did hear about the fuse holder problem and got it replaced
before I had a problem. Take care Jim
