Well actually, skegs are for those that do properly control airspeed to the point where they can be assured that they will nail the landing and not skip the extra inch or so that could cost them the contest.

The idea that people use skegs so they can come in on a screaming landing approach and drop anchor is incorrect. Skegs are vital to help ensure that a great landing does not turn into a zero. At Visalia each year those sadistic bastards..... Oops,  I mean the fine folks at CVRC, design a landing task where often times the difference between a 100 and a zero is if your nose rotates 1/2-inch out of the prime zone.

So get over it. Skegs are just as important to a good landing as are flaps. You could argue that flaps are for those poorly skilled pilots who can’t control their approach angle and speed and should be banned. Hey wait, they already have that class, it’s called RES.

So why not ban skegs in RES and leave the rest of us alone??

And please for the Love Of GOD, edit the “reply to” addresses so your responses only go back to the list and not every single person who has ever posted on the thread!! And maybe even trim off the other 1,000 posts complete with headers and footers in the thread. Just a thought. I’ll go get a second cup of coffee now and soon everything will be wonderful.
