The Cockpit and Evo 6 cell batteries can be charged with a charger for 8 cell packs. The Evo manual says that the battery can remain installed in the transmitter for charging with mains chargers or 12 volt chargers for a max of 8 cells. The battery should be removed from the transmitter before charging with 12 volt chargers for more than 8 cells. I have been charging my Cockpit with the Smart Charge for two years now without problems. Chuck Anderson RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
