I thought is was sporting of Gordy to mention that a "GENIE" outdid him and his Pike today at a contest at Mt. Vernon, Wash. If Russ Young was the pilot, he is not flying a GENIE, but the GENIE LT/S, the light and smaller version. 80 oz??? No way. If Russ finished his 2nd one, I suspect it would be closer to 60.
In another section of Washington State, a couple of us flew our LT/S's for fun in similarly ideal thermal conditions at a sod farm north of Pasco, WA. There were huge, billowing cumulus clouds with lift abounding. I had my 3rd LT/S and friend Jay Decker was flying the prototype he purchased from me. Jay got his so high the stabs disappeared. These ships have the equivalent of "Olympic class sprinter legs". My, oh my, they can cover sky and ground. I was just tearing up the sky working among several massive cumulus clouds. It was one of those "once a year" kind of days you get into when everything is going right. In Lincoln, Nebraska today, Loren Blinde maxed out 10's at a contest with his beautiful LT/S and I understand no one was even close to his scoring. To see the LT/S and read about it, get into http://monkeytumble.com. Look at the Gallery and then get into File 10. In other "GENIE" news, a first composite fuse for the big GENIE has just come out of the molds today. I carved the plug so it would have the intended contours. Others have failed to duplicate the slender cross sections by the fin. Keith Smith in CA did the molds. More later on this after I get a fuse to look over and work with. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, June 19, 2004 5:34 PM Subject: [RCSE] "Genie Bests Pike Today!" > It couldn't have been the pilot!!!! > > Today we flew in Mt Vernon Washington and the weather was gorgeous.
