Yup. Based on emails I've received, many/most Ava flyers keep 5 to 8 oz. permanently in the plane. It's nice to have a light plane for landings if the wind has a low and consistent velocity, but there's not much advantage otherwise. At last month's Gateway Open the low-level save of the day was pulled off by Glauco Lago, flying in circles at about 20' for over 8 minutes with his 96-oz Scar. Lightness is a fashion statement, but not much help in competitive flying.
