I seem to recall that some regulators are not recommended for use with Hitec digital servos.
I've had a set of 4 5245s in an Ultimate bipe for well over two years now - two on ailerons, one each on rudder and elevator (pull-pull). Power comes from a 4-cell 1200 mAh NIMH pack. -0- problems. The only one I have in a sailplane drives the elevator of my 2M Starship. Power there is a 5-cell 1650 NIMH pack. No regulator.
