Home Depot here recently offered the Black and Decker RTX-3S rotary tool for
$20 bucks, with several accessories. This is a 3 speed outfit that normally sells for $30 bucks.
I just saw the new dremel "lithium Ion" powered version.
They claim it is as powerful as the corded one......
I still have an original dremel from about 1973.
The brushes have been toast for almost as many years because I put it
to rough use when I was first into building things. I remember it
getting so hot that I had to wear a glove!
It still works, but I have never found a lot of use for it in the last 20 years....
