Greetings: I am a defense attorney with many years' experience defending insured and uninsured companies. I know and use the Stein Investigation Agency on a regular basis to find witnesses, serve subpoenas, take statements and do factual investigations. I have never heard of them doing just "research", and for sure someone has given them the outlines of what is desired from their work. The most likely, but not exclusive , source of the assignment is some attorney or insurance company involeved in actual or likely litigation. Just reading between the lines, it is likely they are not there to help Mr Winslow or whoever is involved in whatever incident is generating this.

You are under NO obligation to respond.

Perhaps some phone calls to whoever knows what is going on would be in order.

Subject: [RCSE] Anyone know what this is about?

I received this Email which is really friendly and so on but its obviously from someone bent on suing someone else about something to do with model aircraft. I also had a message from Lois Pierce (AMA) about our field GPS coordinates -- we've got two flying fields so she was confused about which one is our 'main' field or something like that.

I personally don't know the person this fellow is talking about.....its really a fishing expedition or something like that (Whittier is a good 60 miles away) but I would like to know if anyone knows anything that might be relevant 'just in case'.

Subject: Model Aircraft Clubs in Southern California

September 23, 2005

Dear Mr. Usher,

Hello. My name is Mark Simon. Im a researcher for the Stein Agency in Los
Angeles and I was asked to do a project regarding posted flying rules for
model aircraft clubs in Southern California.

The assignment also included asking about an Academy of Model Aeronautics
(AMA) member named Mark Wasilow, who recently had an accident.

Could you take a few minutes and answer these questions for me?

Where does your club normally fly from? (the name of the area - for example,
Whittier Narrows Regional Park)

Do you post flying rules up at your field and where do you put them up? (for
example, the parking lot or the bulletin board where pilots stand)

What rules do you post? (for example, a copy of the AMA Safety Code or a
Warning sign or maybe a Flying Site Safety and Operational Rules list)

Is Mark Wasilow a member of your AMA club?

Would you consider Mr. Wasilow a helpful contributor to your club?

I am easily contacted by telephone Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.00pm at
323/908-1487, by fax at
323/908-1471, or by email at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks very much for your help.

Mark Simon, Researcher
Stein Agency, Los Angeles
