To get an 8 ounce wing loading, you'll need a 20 ounce airframe, which is
actually too light for One Design airframes. At 25 ounces it comes in at 10
ounces/ft.sq. At the MWSC, we fly with the 25-35 ounce rules so the FUN
comes out right at the minimum.

I did make one for myself that had some additional carbon for a spar and it
came in at 27 ounces RTF. I used a carbon dart 4" at the root which tapered
to 1" at the tip for the top of the wing and a 2" wide piece tapering to 1"
at the tip for the bottom. Then, I slobbered the epoxy on and didn't even
try to remove the extra. It was stout and stiff.

The FUN comes out at 23-25 ounces RTF unless you do something serious to the
wings like bag full carbon under the sheeting. That of course would defeat
the purpose of One Design.

You are right though, they do fly in fairly light lift when kept light. gv

Good suggestion. Just keep it light. I'd expect a loading of 8 would be a
reasonable goal. Even less would be better if acheivable.

Most 60" slope racers fly very well at low wing loadings. Better than what
most would expect. Along with ballasted for big wind, too. Their wide range
of flyability makes them a wise choice.
