You have to install the extensions to get VirtualBox to see a USB: Licensing Information. VirtualBox is released as GPL=> "Freely available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris x-86 platforms." I will meet CS students this Friday to give them XO laptops to start interacting with it, for them to develop ideas. regards Sounds like a plan. What I will try to do in the meantime is make a stand-alone activity that does approximately the above that they can use as a template. regards. -walter On Tue, Jan 10, 2012 at 11:09 AM, Walter Bender <walter.ben...@gmail.com> wrote: On Tue, Jan 10, 2012 at 11:23 AM, desire rwagaju <des...@laptop.org> wrote: >>>>>>>>Hello Walter, I looked at different existing activities, to see which >>>>>>>>one would be more flexible to edit/modify according to the idea, and so far, Gcompris: http://activities.sugarlabs.org/en-US/sugar/addon/4313 Is still the choice. Human body (male and female) 2. Male and female reproductive systems 3. Reproductive organs hygiene 4. Family planning and contraceptives 5. Best to find some existing activity that has some resemblance to what you want and modify it. Let's start with some small piece of the puzzle to prove the idea. -walter >>>>>>>>>Regards On Fri, Jan 6, 2012 at 5:10 AM, Walter Bender >>>>>>>>><walter.ben...@gmail.com> wrote: On Fri, Jan 6, 2012 at 4:34 AM, >>>>>>>>>desire rwagaju <des...@laptop.org> wrote: >>>>>>>>>>Hello Walter, I hope new year finds you well, >>>>>>>>>>Thank you. I hope 2012 is a great year for the children in Rwanda. >>>>>>>>>>My name is Rwagaju Desire, working on learning side of OLPC-Rwanda for the last three years. As part of our activities I've been working with teachers and students in more than 120 primary schools and more than 100 000 students (mostly P4-P6 grades) involved in OLPC project countrywide. I've been influenced by my background in Health Science to notice a strong need for reproductive health education for students in primary schools in Rwanda and other developing countries. This kind of education is a key factor in order to reduce the high occurrence of early/unwanted pregnancies in primary students, as well as sexually transmitted diseases that are easily preventable by simply changing personal behaviors. This high occurrence is due to lack of basic knowledge on reproductive health for adolescent, much related to tradition, religion and customs of their parents, that not allow them to have conversation with their children about gender, sex, etc. Taking the opportunity of deployment of laptops in Rwanda and other developing countries, to not only to engage students to seek knowledge related to curriculum but also to change their lives in different ways that can provide them well being I've written a small draft describing the development of an interactive activity for the XO that could help students in early ages to learn about their reproductive health. The development of this activity will be a joint initiative with the Rwandan Ministry of Health, and OLPC Rwanda. It will involve students in Computer Science from Kigali Institute of Science and Technology to stimulate local developers for the sustainability of OLPC project. Find Attached proposal for further details. Wish you a prosperous 2012. Regards >>>>>>>>>>This is all great. The key is to figure out what the activity will actually do. Will it be some sort of interactive experience, or something more like a brochure or pamphlet? I am happy to work directly with the CS students in guiding them through the process of creating the activity itself.
