I appreciate your suggestions. I think I'll go with the firewall idea. I think that will fit the assignment parameters better. To clarify, the assignment is:

- 10 to 15 PowerPoint slides on a *specific* aspect of Linux in Networking
- reference to at least 3 sources, a website reference is fine

I can present a step-by-step thing in a presentation fairly easily and it's specific.

As an aside, I hate doing presentation-type assignments. I just find the medium so limiting, I would almost rather do a full-blown paper than a preso. I suppose the point of the exercise is to force you to distill your ideas down to the essentials. On the other hand, they may just be easier to grade than wading through a bunch of student essays.

If you need a grin, check out the The Gettysburg Powerpoint Presentation at http://www.norvig.com/Gettysburg/. Don't miss the accompanying essay: http://www.norvig.com/lancet.html.

Thanks,

Rod
