With an external CAN controller or analyzer you can send and receive
messages which will help to understand the problem, e.g. if a CAN
message got out to the bus. Nothing special is needed. As said, a
supported and known to work CAN card connected to another PC or Laptop
would already be fine and less expensive than a CAN analyzer.

I do not expected the RT-Socket-CAN ISA driver for the SJA1000 to behave
