Yes, you are right. Not running slcand solved the problem. Now I can change the 
state of slcan0 and use cansend and candump. Thank you so much!

As mentioned above, communication is fine with cutecom (which is not the case 
for minicom, for some unknown reason, but never mind, one is enough).
