Hello,

I'am new at this mailing list. I hope you understand what I write here,
because my english language is not so good (I'am from Germany in
Europe :-)).

I have since 3 weeks a net5501-70 on which I install over PXE an
original Debian (Lenny/sid) over the netinstall option. (I install first
"etch" and then I make a dist-upgrade to "lenny/sid".)

I experiment also with voyage linux, but the problem is that vl-0.52
(etch) works well when I make a nfs-mount to my server. But with the
lenny-version of voyage-linux I can not make a nfs-mount. So I install
the original Debian. It works very well.

I experiment with encrypted partitions (cryptsetup, luks:
aes-cbc-essiv:sha256, keylength 256 bit) with or without the geode-AES
engine. The result of my tests ist that when I NOT load
the "geode-aes" module (then the module "aes-i586" is used) the
encryption/decryption is a little bit faster than with the geode-aes
module (measured with "time cat 700MB-file >/dev/null" or
"time dd if=/dev/zero of=xxx.img bs=1024 count=700000"
and I reboot the system bevor every test ;-) ).
So I think if it is a good idea to buy one of the two boards vpn1401 or
vpn1411.

Who uses one of the two boards (vpn1401 or vpn1411)?
What are your experience?

The HIFN 7955 security acceleration chip on the boards is supported by
the linux kernel 2.6.26 (Debian: Lenny/sid, module "hifn_795x").
It seems it is fully supported in this Linux kernel.

Is it a good idea to buy one of the ecryption/decryption boards, or is
the speed less like with the geode-aes engine?

Regards
Andreas
