128MB flash?

I have managed to install Debian base on a 256MB flash but it was a tight fit.
Even if you put /var & the deb-files in tmpfs and didn't install the kernel you
would still need about 160-180MB just for the base system.

if you want it on 128MB you can try installing on a remote rootfs (NFS) and
then
afterwards try to make it fit on the flash.
