I've seen odd behaviour with FreeBSD and hubs before.  I think  
FreeBSD's USB code was substantially reworked for 7.0, so maybe it  
hasn't fully settled down yet.  Worth asking on one of the FreeBSD  
mailing lists.

You can get a second USB cable assembly as item code "usb_2nd" from  
Wim at https://kd85.com/soekris.html (which has a photo showing where  
to connect the cable to the board).

Wim also sells a second serial port cable assembly, item "code  
serial_2nd", which would be my preferred solution if the UPS has a  
serial port as well as USB.
