I'm not entirely sure it is the end of Soekris. Is is the end of the US
division but Soekris Europe seems to be doing well and is adding new
products to their lineup. I am not sure if they are starving out the US
division from new products but the situation appears to be very different.
At least from what I can see with the announcements on their home page.

I agree, we recently got two APU2 boards to complement (not yet replace) two
net5501-70s that have been running _very robustly_ for years. so far the
APU2s are behaving reasonably well, so seems promising as a platform to
migrate to.

the one thing the APU2 lacks is the ability to remotely issue a hard reset,
ie something like the in-band +++RESET serial command of the net5501. with
APU2, a power cycle is required in case of hangup in boot, ddb or similar.
talking to Pascal of pcengines.ch, it seems that he is philosophically
opposed to these kind of magic sequences, so some other solution for
emergency recovery is required...

this thread has been very useful! it's good to hear about peoples
experiences with other platforms... still sad to see the end of Soekris
though :/
