yep Alan, not using simulated icetrees at all... but thanks for the reminder. my problem was updating a rotation value that is relative to a defined location on a pre-envelope state. So I had to multiply by the inverse first to get it in local space, then transforn back to world space to apply the offset. too much rotations and my head went gimbal locked.. =)
