Guys this whole "maya is so open"-discussion goes back into mid 90's when films like jurassic park and stuff was done.
Back then Softimage 3D was EOL and Softimage XSI came out. It was, as far as I know, rly not the best tool for bigger companies if they wanted to build there own tools for it. Maya just had all opportunities for R&D to write tools for it and create a own pipeline. And that also was the time when maya took over and when all companies started building there pipeline around it. Nowadays no one cares about maya anymore in those companies who back then have choosen it. They all got inhouse software allready. So the whole industry is maya based because of companies who have choosen it, but who allready more or less switched to inhouse software since then (or at least they got more inhouse tools for it then build in ones). Correct me if I'm wrong. 2014-09-10 23:05 GMT+02:00 Paulo Cesar Duarte <paulocdua...@gmail.com>: > Yeah, very strange the Escape Studios page down. > http://www.escapestudios.com/softimage-artists-take-on-maya-escape-studios/ > > I agree with Jordi, in how is this "open" concept?
