Honestly I have no idea how to do either, so no on both accounts.

I found a way that seemed to work - extracting polygons to get rid of unwanted 
data and exporting that as alembic. Unfortunately it still creates weird 
motionblur on just a few frames. Have yet to check if it is consistent.
