Thanks people,

from the two ways of looking at the HD size, I got another question:

iostat -E gives 20.02G while format/0/pa/pr gives 18.64GB...

why the difference??? unpartitioned versus partitioned???

Leo

bash-2.05# iostat -E
Size: 20.02GB <20019879936 bytes>

partition> p
Part Tag Flag Cylinders Size Blocks
  2 backup wm 0 - 38789 18.64GB (38790/0/0) 39100320

hi there...

for the memory try...

prtconf | head -3 |grep Mem

for the disk size..

use format
choose the disk you want
type pa to get to the partitions menu
type pr to print the menu to the screen
under part 2 check the size for the total disk size
use quit to exit

cheers
         Rupert
