what about http://otn.oracle.com
IMHO this is good starting point.
For starting you have 2 ways to install oracle: on UFS patririon nad on RAW patririon
1st is very soft as a decision, but have lower speed (additional level of drivers)
2nd is fast, but you can't use sample tools to backup database as exp, tar, cpio, etc.
if you need more info ask!

hello all,

i am trying to find more information about Oracle ODM (oracle disk
manager ?) since i want to find the best way to install oracle 9.2.0.1
database using solaris 8 (64-bit) on a sun e4500 and A5000 disk array.
i have tried searching the net but could not find any information about
ODM. can someone point me to links with information, documentation or
maybe oracle best practices ?
