I have a machine without a printer and on a network with nothing but PCs. I can get it
to print, but the UNIX newline does not translate into a CRLF, which the PC printer
expects. I thought it was possible to alter this using lpadmin, but I can't remember
how. I'm running Solaris 7 on an Ultra 5.

Termcap shows an entry Variable=newline, Cap Name=nel, Termcap code=nw, but I can't
figure out what to do with the information.

I set the printer up using:

lpadmin -p lp1 -s lj5si -T hplaserjet -m netstandard

lj5si is in my /etc/hosts. It is the name I assigned to the IP address of the printer,
which is an HP Laserjet 5si. The PC folks will not let me change LF to CRLF using the
printer control panel, because they think it will cause their printouts to double
space.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Thomas Brooks
