This is, however, not secure. You should use SSH tunneling.

If there is ssh server on the Solaris box (if there is not, it is a good idea to install openssh) and ssh client on the Mandrake box (I would be surprised if it is not there):

on mandrake box:
ssh -f [<user>@]<solaris-box-IP-or-FQDN> <X-command>

for example

ssh -f [EMAIL PROTECTED] "xterm -title [EMAIL PROTECTED]"

if the username is tah same on the Mandrake and the SOlaris boxes you don't have to specify it. The ssh client and server have to be set up to allow X11 forwarding. For the client, an option is to add -X to the command line, i.e.

ssh -fX ...
