Have you tested this?  Just because the link goes down does not mean
that the interface goes down or that the route is brought down.  It may
depend on your interfaces and OS version.  Unless you're using IPMP, I
wouldn't expect Solaris 8 for instance to do anything to the routing
table.

A real routing protocol would be the normal way to handle multiple
routes.  Using routed to listen to RIP for instance.
