Hi!

You should specify -m switch for useradd for creating user home
directory. Read a manual page for useradd for defaults; by default
Solaris uses /export/home/ for ordinary users homes.

Btw, in FreeBSD, the default also differs: users homes are in
/usr/home and /home is only a symlink there. I'd like to give you more
general advice: do not expect that Solaris is like Linux, or even BSD.
Solaris is ... a moment of silence ... simply Solaris. Many things
here work differently like elsewhere and you probably should forget
[almost] everything what you know from Linux of BSD. Believe or not,
this helps me a lot when migrating from Linux to FreeBSD and later to
Solaris.
