Hi Tom Cato and Alice, Incrementally good news on the Mac front: First, David Baumgold (aka singingwolfboy) picked up my slack and updated the MacPorts port of solfege to 3.19.2. Second, more recent versions of Xcode update through Software Update, so the downloads aren't quite as huge and don't require signing up for anything. People with older versions (I'm not sure what the turning point is) might still have to download the 1GB file, but as the months go by I think that will be necessary for fewer and fewer people.
So, to Alice, if you're still reading the list: I recommend following the instructions here: http://www.solfege.org/Solfege/SolfegeViaMacPorts. Let me know if there are specific parts of those instructions that are confusing or that don't work for you. I'm not an expert, but I will help if I can. And to Tom Cato: My apologies for being absent from the Solfege world. I saw at least one e-mail come through the list a few months back asking for MacPorts troubleshooting. I should have written back to say I didn't know how to help... but instead I told myself that I would get help from the MacPorts people and then get back to the list with an answer. And I never did it. I'll try to be more involved with future Mac questions. And perhaps David will be able to help with trickier troubleshooting; he's much more knowledgeable about MacPorts than I am. --Allen On 1/22/11 5:04 AM, Tom Cato Amundsen wrote: > 2011/1/15 Zila Phono<[email protected]>: >> I really miss Solfege, and well, since I'm no computer >> specialist I really don't know how to install the software the way that its >> explained at the web page, I understand that this might not be in your plans >> (to develop the software for Mac) > Yes, installing on Mac is quite difficult, and I think it requires > quite big downloads.
