WRT a switch, I left room for other components to insert stages between the
well defined ones.
I'm not sure if this will be useful in the future or not. Much of that seems
like it would depend on the contracts between the components and the
ResponseBuilder, and thus how other unknown custom coponents would be able to
change things. That's still very immature, as I've really just been focusing on
getting things working.
