The date.format thing is interesting.... but shouldn't that really be part of a
Date fieldType that can accept all those formats?
Transforming in the update handler only means that you could add a
literal.mydate=date1 via the update handler, and then fail to query it (because
the date parsing was specific to the update handler.)
Perhaps we could add this to the new trie field for dates?
