Where did you download that BIOS? I can only find R2169M3b for your Modell (VGN-Z21MRN): http://support.vaio.sony.eu/computing/vaio/downloads/updates/index.aspx?l=en_EN&m=VGN-Z21MRN_B which is in fact the same as R2168M3 with as only change, that you now can switch virtualization on/off in the BIOS. Here the direct downloadlink to that BIOS: ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/VAIO/Updates/EP0000208175.exe > After this - every > time I try to boot linux (Ubuntu 9.10 x64) in "Speed" mode (nVidia) - > instead of the image on the screen, I see a bunch of colored vertical > lines. > And this happens even at the "splash screen" stage. > When I downgrade BIOS back to R2168M3 - everything back to normal. > (Windows 7 works fine with new R2170M3 BIOS) > > Has anyone else tried to run linux with the newer BIOS? Did you enter a wrong model in the website? Regards, Raphael
