TORIT, 05 November 2011 (Gurtong) – The Eastern Equatoria State
Minister for Public Service, Labour and Human Resource Management
William Emilio Odingila told Gurtong that the affected civil servanst
had been given a 3-month notification, saying they will receive all
their terminal benefits.

“Eight percent of the salaries of the affected civil servants have
been deducted to cater for their pension”, said Odingila.

He clarified that despite public outcry over the retirement age of
public servants, the retirement age of civil servants stands at 60
instead of 65.

“Efforts to present files for pensioners to the South Sudanese
government on the plea of the civil servants are being undertaken by a
ministerial committee and the Directorate of Pensions”, he said.

Efforts by Gurtong to reach the retirement fund beneficiaries have not
been successful.
