A special envoy from India is expected in South Sudan this week to discuss a UN Security Council resolution that seeks to end border fighting between Sudan and South Sudan. Amarendra Khatua has already met with senior officials in Khartoum and will travel to Juba to meet with South Sudan government officials. While in Khartoum, Khatua raised his government's concerns about the recent clashes in Heglig and expressed his government's willingness to mediate peace talks between the two Sudans. India's state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) holds a 25 percent stake in Greater Nile Petroleum Operating Company Ltd, which operates the Heglig oil fields.
