NBeG Citizens asked to test for HIV
Friday, 18 May 2012 03:10 Lagu Francis Health >>> . An HIV/AIDS training workshop has concluded in Aweil town, Northern Bah-el-Ghazel State with a call for communities to get tested for HIV. The training aimed at creating HIV/AIDS awareness and discourage stigmatization of people living with the HIV. At least 50 participants including community leaders and people living with HIV attended the three day workshop organized by the South Sudan HIV/AIDS Commission (SSAC). SSAC's Deputy Director for Planning and Policy Gabriel Atillio advised the communities to visit voluntary counseling and testing centers that have been opened up in all State Capitals to know their HIV status. "HIV is there and it is true. Please let's do away with misconception; let's concentrate on facts about HIV. Let's not mix things," said Atillio. Atillio said having HIV is not mean the end for people living with the virus. "If at all you are infected, you will get services and if you are not infected, you can learn how to avoid gettinginfected. Go and know your status," he advised. Similar workshops will be held in all 10 states. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
