I was under his direct command in Pochala area and later Kurmuk. Although his military operations were sometimes or mostly marred in failure and unnecessary loss of lives during the war years, Kiir deceived many (including this author) with his humble and unassuming personality. But since taking over the leadership of SPLM/A following the unfortunate and untimely lost of the Movement's great leader, Dr. Garang, Kiir has shocked many people within the borders of Sudan including the now independent South Sudan and far beyond the borders of Africa. Like many of his peers around him in the leadership, the SPLA General-Cum-President is dull, illusionist and totally out of touch with the reality of 21st century, as well as being ignorant of the daily realities facing the long suffering people of South Sudan. He has shown a theatrical way of behaviour and shows little or absolutely no regard to norms and values that usually guide the leadership of any modern country on the planet earth. A gang of semi-illiterate Gogrialist Mafia has surrounded the President (with some tightly controlling national bank forex exchanges and in the judiciary here in Juba) and their self-conduct which include the never-ending looting of public coffers has only served to tarnish and put irreversible damage on the image of Bahr El Ghazal as a Region where Kiir hails from in particular and South Sudan as nation he leads in general. Things are not helped by the fact that the other SPLM "heavy-weights" in the former Military & Political High Command who could provide alternative are as useless and greedy and are more unviable than the president himself. Poor people of South Sudan are doomed, especially now that even few foreign friends who could blow the whistle are forced to hurriedly exit to save their own necks as the SPLM Gangs in control of the country are seething in anger following their unmasking! None among them has a slightest sense of shame, otherwise they would have felt pity on the poor orphans, widows and dying masses who are succumbing to preventable diseases. I know some self-appointed beneficiaries of the ongoing corruption may find this "blasphemous" but remember that this author is not an opposition but an SPLM insider right here in Juba! The Bible said that say the truth and the truth shall set you free! There is no point of swarming Cathedral Churches here in Juba every Sunday with a bunch of desperate sycophants and apologists, if our leaders cannot give to the people, practical services and tangible development. One Ayeun who recently wrote has said it all, the workings within the SPLM. People of Bahr El Ghazal (this author is a Bahr El Ghazalian of Warrap itself), it is time we rise to confront Kiir to change his ways of running the country, or we shall all go down the history as people who did not correct things when our own son and other gluttonous old men around him destroyed the new-born nation. A mighty country like South Sudan cannot, should not and must not be allowed to few greedy and people and their wives and children to sacrifice for their own selfish ends! Wanhalel Jurwiir, RSS Where is South Sudan heading to? Dear Editor, I am beginning to worry as to where exactly our new nation is headed to. Many foreign advisors are throwing-in their towels in a bid to show discontent with government policies on development. First off, it was Gerard Prunier a French scholar on Economic issues who resigned a couple of months back and now Ted Dagne, Ethiopian American who tried to encourage our President so to whistleblow on the alleged 75. This nearly cost his life and so he had to run for his safety. This development reminds me of the French Bourbon monarch of 1791 ruled by King Louis VXI, the monarch was spending a lot in an extravagant manner and the fact that the king used to refused advice from several of its advisors, hence the collapsed of the monarch. This dissatisfaction in France led to the birth of the French revolution which saw King Louis off the country and he was apprehended at the border with Austria. Pawan Lodyong, RSS Don't corrupt our citizens That is the bad manners for our politicians to do the corruption in South Sudan. We need this country to be in peace not to corrupt our citizens..
