JUBA, 15 May 2013 [Gurtong] - “We met with the President as the team
of the negotiators on the border between the Republic of South Sudan
and Sudan. The objective of the meeting was to brief H.E the President
on the progress we have met on the disputed areas especially after
prepared our final report,” Makwei told press on Monday after meeting
Kiir.

He said the President has approved the report and now awaits
presentation to the AU this week.

The AU team of experts who will later work through the report and
expected to come out with non-binding opinion will present it for
negotiations to the South Sudan and Sudan’s teams.

Border is one of the areas of contention between Sudan and South Sudan
right after the secession of the two countries.

Last week a US based watch dog, Sat sentinel organization contracted
to monitor border issues between Sudan and South Sudan reported
building of troops of both countries in areas they are expected to
stay off with their armed personnel.

The activist warned unless the duo respect the Cooperation Agreement
reached last year in September, the situation is likely to provoke
break-down of relations.
