Organization Conducts Validation Workshop In Bor

A local organisation has conducted a validation workshop for the
Ministry of Local Government in Jonglei State to boost service
delivery the local level.

BOR, 14 May 2013 [Gurtong] – The Team Leader for Winrock Bridges
Project, Panther Alier has said that they are implementing the
building of bridges to help the delivery of government services.

Alier said that Bridge Project is a US government funded project that
had been ongoing since 201.

“We are here today on strategic plan for the ministry of local
government,” he said.

He said that the workshop is to validate information that has been
gathered by a consultant and put structures in place for the ministry
of local government.

“It is a strategic plan for the ministry of local government and we
have been gathering information today for the validation of that
information by the consultant,” he said.

Panther said that the workshop is on a particular activity which is on
strategic plan adding that that they will do a launching of the
strategic plan when it is completed by their consultant.

“There will be a launching which will be public,” Panther told Press.

He said that once the strategic plan is in place you draw on it the
activities that support the counties.

He urges the participants to look in to the issues and acknowledge
that the plan is in place.

“It has to be put in practice, has to be carried out so that it is not
just a book but it is a working document that informs delivery of
services in the local government and in the counties,” he said.

He said that they have conducted so many trainings in Jonglei state.

“We have trained all the local government administrators, we have
developed a hand book for the council of ministers and train members
on it, we have developed and trained members of legislative assembly
on conducting of business, we have just concluded on handbook for the
executive council and trained people from the ministry of education,”
he said.

The Director General for Local Government said that there will be more
changes after the validation workshop which is for the strategic plan
for the ministry of local government adding that the validation
workshop will be the road map in the ministry of local government to
the counties.

Bashir said that after they have finalized their workshop they will
ask the counties to do the same by producing their strategic plan.

The workshop is focusing on the objective of the local government ministry.
