*AWEIL, 29 January 2014 [Gurtong] - *Women and children during the fighting
between the government and anti-government forces have been more severely
affected.

The women marching from Aweil National Secondary School to UN Mission in
South Sudan (UNMISS) compound with a petition and peace logos, handed over
their petition in which they have called for an immediate end to violence
in the new nation.

"We the women NBGS are concerned about the current crises in our country.
We are here to show our support to peace and stability in our country," the
petition partly reads.

"We fully condemn the violence outbreak in almost every part of this
country and we call upon the leaders and international community to observe
the freedom of every citizen. We women, as the mothers of these citizens
are deeply concerned about the violence."

The women from UNMISS base proceeded to the Sudan People's Liberation
Movement (SPLM) General Secretariat where they met with the acting governor
Lino Adup Achieer.

Adup appreciated the women for their concern in regard to the instability
and their messages of peace to national and international communities on
the situation.

The Speaker of NBGS' Legislative Assembly, Hon. Achol William Amuoi
welcomed the calls of THE women and confirmed the legislature would respond
to their concerns.

The minister of information and communication in NBGS Hon. Jackline Nyibol
Benjamin Ajonga also empathized with the women.

The women started mobilizing for this peaceful demonstration on Friday
first scheduling it for Monday but it occurred on Tuesday.
