Taban’s faction says “War mongers" convinced labour minister to resign

JUBA (20 Feb.)

The SPLM-IO faction loyal to the incumbent First Vice President Taban Deng
Gai claims “war mongers” and “rumour propagators” convinced the former
minister of labour and public service to resign from the unity government.

Lt. Gen. Gabriel Duop Lam, who was a senior member of the SPLM-IO faction
allied to First Vice President Taban Deng resigned, citing frustration with
the unity government’s inability to tackle the country's problems.“The
truth of the matter was that Mr. Gabriel Duop was misled by warmongers and
rumour propagators who are thirty for more bloodshed among south Sudanese
to take that miscalculated decision to resign from the TGONU (Transitional
Government of National Unity,” partly reads a statement seen by Radio
Tamazuj on Sunday.

The statement, which bears the name of Dhieu Mathok, Minister of Dams and
Electricity in the unity government from Taban’s faction, claimed that
there are individuals who believe peace should not be given a chance,
saying they are moving from here and there preaching that peace has died
and the country was returning to war that it requires the agreement to be
resuscitated.

Dhieu called on the armed opposition group to denounce violence, saying the
people of South Sudan have had enough wars and suffering brought by the
ongoing conflict.“We therefore urge them to denounce violence, immediately
stop killing of innocent people, embrace peace and respond to President
Salva’s call for national dialogue and reconciliation,” further ready the
statement.
