25, February 2017 (Nyamilepedia) — Government forces loyal to
President Silva Kiir have been forced to retreat in the face of fierce
and heavy attack by SPLM-IO and White Army in the areas of Nyakhor and
Pulchuol as new battles intensify across South Sudan’s Jonglei state.

According to a spokesperson of the White Army, government forces have
been beaten back badly in what he described as a crashing blow t the
regime forces after trying to attack areas controlled by the armed
opposition.

“we gave to them a good lesson…..they (Mathiang Anyor (Name given to
Dinka tribal fighters loyal to President Salva Kiir)…they will not
forget it what happened here today” said a White Army fighter who said
he was involved directly in the attack

The White Army Bunom said forces loyal to Kiir were being pushed as
they fled the battle field in disarray.

The White army accused the regime in Juba of continuing to use
Sudanese rebels from Darfur JEM rebels in attacks against armed
opposition stronghold, adding that the JEM rebels suffered countless
death in the hands of the armed opposition fighters.

Fighting started when government forces loyal to President Kiir
launched a heavy attack on the areas of Nyakhor and Pulchuol capturing
the two areas, however, that trigger a heavy response from a combined
force of the SPLM-IO and the White Army who are local fighters from
the Lou Nuer.

The SPLM-IO and the White Army in heavy retaliation, commanded by Gen.
Wal Nyak, the commander of division 8 of the SPLM-IO, overrun the two
areas pushing government soldiers from both towns.

In the battle which lasted over 2 hours left countless government
militias known as Mathiang Anyor dead according to eye witnesses who
described the fighting as a crashing blow to forces loyal to Salva
Kiir, while the combined force continued to pursue them towards the
bush according to rebel sources present at the area of fighting.

“What happened there to them…..( Mathiang Anyor) of Salva Kiir, only
God and those you witness it can say it, bodies lie everywhere, the
run into the bush in different directions…” said the eye witness who
did not want to give his name during the communication

Government forces are said to have now retreated toward Ruplia and
tangyang, while others have fled in disarray into the bushes of
Pulchuol.

The spokesperson says 4 Land Cruisers have been destroyed and left
behind by flee regime soldiers, also one small Tank known as (Wulit)
has been destroyed.

Nyamilepedia continues to monitor the situation from the battle field
by the time of publishing this article. A rebel fighter said their
forces were still pursuing the government forces towards the main
town.

One of my concern is that Bor community and its surroundings for
obvious reasons have willingly chosen to let the tribal government use
their communities as a launching pad since this war started. Should
the victim of those attacks adopts a policy of “if your with them,
then you are against” and the fate and security of Bor and its
surroundings could be in a bizzare limbo.
