It looks like you've got a 10-second timeout, and it's taking longer than that. Are you doing RBL checks? If so, you may be timing out on ORBS, which recently went offline.
I was seeing a similar problem until I added:
score RCVD_IN_ORBS 0
to my local config. Gerald Raynor wrote:
You did help me notice a mistake I did make. I changed to sendmail.mc to: "S=inet:[EMAIL PROTECTED]" and don't get any startup errors anymore. But now get the following in the logs when a message is received:
Jun 7 21:30:24 homer spamd[47769]: connection from localhost.spacelynx.com [127.0.0.1] at port 1339 Jun 7 21:30:34 homer sendmail[48462]: h581UOgu048462: Milter (spamassassin): timeout before data read Jun 7 21:30:34 homer spamd[48463]: bad protocol: header error: Jun 7 21:30:34 homer sendmail[48462]: h581UOgu048462: Milter (spamassassin): to error state Jun 7 21:30:34 homer sendmail[48462]: h581UOgu048462: Milter (spamassassin): init failed to open Jun 7 21:30:35 homer sendmail[48462]: h581UOgu048462: Milter (spamassassin): to error state

"S=unix:[EMAIL PROTECTED]" doesn't really make much sense for a socket name. You probably want "S=localhost:12000"

runI seem to have everything configured properly but I think I'm missing a small step somewhere in starting/running spamassassin.
The process seems to be running but sendmail either
doesn't like it or doesn't see it. However, when I
the sample.pl against sendmail.cf it test fine.Below
are the steps I've taken to verify/error checkmyself.
Any help would be great thanks.-u
