I'm getting the 2.60 cvs after having initialized it with this recommended script now:

export CVSROOT=:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvsroot/spamassassin
cvs login
cvs update -Pd
cvs logout

It sort of works and updates everything, but I'm getting these irritating errors:

Logging in to :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:2401/cvsroot/spamassassin
CVS password:
cvs [login aborted]: recv() from server cvs.sourceforge.net: Connection reset by peer
? spamassassin/sample-nonspam.out
cvs server: Updating spamassassin

and on it goes happily, so why does it say "aborted"?

Sometimes the CVS server plays up. If you're using a recent CVS update, then go on using it. Come back later (next day?) and try the CVS server again.

Then again, you don't say what OS or distro you're using. You could have a duff cvs package? I'm using RH 7.2, self-compiled cvs-1.11.2 (straight './configure') and installed as an rpm with checkinstall.

Logging out of :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:2401/cvsroot/spamassassin
cvs logout: Entry not found.

And, sure enough, I cannot find the command "logout" in man cvs, however, I also cannot find the command "login" there.

No, it doesn't seem to be in 'man cvs'. But "it works for me."

What am I missing?

Duff cvs package?

Another question: can I specify the empty password somehow, so that I could schedule the cvs retrieval?

<ctrl>v<ctrl>m in your script, whatever that is? I don't think you ought to automate CVS for this, unless your crontab outputs a complete list of what it's done, e-mails to root, so you can see what's gone wrong, if it has.

Best,

Tony
