*cough* Read Yer RFC's man RFC 2822 Section 3.6.2 is VERY clear about all this.

1) the Reply-To header is optional, not required.


2) The Reply-to header intended to be specified by message originators, should they desire replies to go to an alternate address. Although some mailing lists engage in the dubious practice of munging reply-to's, this is something that sourceforge explicitly refuses to do because of the mail loops it can cause, and it is technically speaking a violation of RFC's for a mail list to do so.
